As always, the general section is the bussiest of them all. Most popular thread is the Word association game, with ca. 1700 replies already. It all started on august 5th 2004. Stoned Smurfs probably didn't expect this to happen.
John Cleese's Letter to America, which Orioni found on the forum of Equilism, has generated quite a reply. What is British humor and why is it so good? Not everyone is interested though. Atlas Bain puts the spotlight on the currencies in use and asked if the Euro could be the regional currency.
The Art Gallery reveiced to request for a personalized flag: one from Atlas Bain and another one from Christian Falangists from The Meritocracy. They both received what they asked for and were quite satisfied with the result.
ROLE-PLAY
1. RP GENERAL
- WAR IN TAGMATIUM
The enemy capital of Petrium was captured by loyal Tagmatium forces after a heavy bombardement by bombers of Tamurin and Tagmatium. The allies sustained few casualties, but some of the historical buildings in Petrium were damaged. The leader of the enemy, General Konig, was captured. The imperial Conservative League of Tagmatium (CLT) has split up into different factions, some of them very fascistic. The allies of Tagmatium, Paranoid Schizo, Burgundy-Brabant and Tamurin continue to fight until the whole nation is once again in loyal hands. - WILDLIFE PRESERVE IN ZONE 111
The nation of Orioni proposed the creation of a wildlife preserve area in zone 111. There, all nations' animals could live without human interference. While Meteorola and Koku immediately supported this, Tagmatium and Tamurin had doubts about this plan. After some questions were answered, both nations agreed to support this idea. The nations of Burgundy-Brabant and Haken also offered to donate animals. - END OF DEMOCRACY IN PHIL IV
On february 20th, Phil V dissolved the parliament and regained absolute power in the nation of Phil IV. This event has not been commented by the major european nations. What effect this will have on the foreign politics of Phil IV is not clear - yet.
- EUROPA'S PAST
Some nations are planning to play role-plays in Europas past. It look like the first one will be the Tamurin Civil War 1903-1911.
Since this topic came up, many nations have begun to write down the past of their people. This could lead to a whole new kind of role-plays - if it's successful. - WAR IN BALTIROW-WOUD
After some quiet days, the armed forces of S.S.S.S. have begun to move into Baltirow-Woud in large numbers. Meteorola opposes this attack and has predicted a massive slaughter for S.S.S.S. in Baltirow-Woud.
The nations of Niederoesterreich and Tagmatium have offered military assistance to S.S.S.S. according to the principles of the MATA pact. As a result of this, Meteorola has suspended all cooperations with Niederoesterreich.
Many people of Baltirow-Woud have fled to Meteorola's shores. The nation of Orioni has offered assistance in dealing with the refugees.
Meanwhile, a shot-down aircraft and the still imprisoned Autumn Showers are heating up the situation. - NIEDEROESTERREICH SEIZING ZONE 113
Niederoesterreich expands into zone 113. Only the nation of Orioni has opposed this plan, but after Niederoesterreich assured that it would support Orioni's plan to convert zone 111 into a wildlife reserve, orioni ended the opposition of Niederoesterreichs plans.
The expansion into zone 113 greatly improves the strategic position of Niederoesterreich, especially regarding the upcoming war against Meteorola.
- The Meteorolan/Niederosterreichian bridge-project has been halted. Meteorolan sources state that the reason is agressive politics of SSSS.
- The Museum in tamurin has got new donations
INTERIOR AFFAIRS
Europa contains 255 nations, which is 2 less since the previous issue.
Orioni is our current delegate, elected 72 days ago and holding 62 endorsements.
Koku brings up a new issue regarding increased stages for freedom of speech. No word yet on the opinions of Europa's other nations.
The success of the first edition of the EUROPEAN TIMES has led to the arrival of a host of new editors to support head honcho Orioni's endeavour. Tamurin, Senator Gaius and even Meteorola, with a weather report, are onboard.
There has been a host of new arrivals since our last edition. Nevareion, Antacidadia, Wild Frontier, Sardica, Mia Divina and Atlas Bain, who has made several posts and is taking an active part in the region. Bain has been seen hanging around the Ministry of Defence...
WEATHER
From the Meteorola Weather Service in Foggy Bottom:
During the past week a strong low-pressure system moved through Europa. The front spread moderate snows across Meteorola, with lighter amounts in SSSS. People in Phil V woke up wondering what was the white stuff on the ground. A one-in-ten year event took place, with light snows covering much of Phil V. The snows across the area were accompanied by colder than normal temperatures.
As the front moved to the east heavy rains pounded Endless Summer, causing land slides, and even trapping people living in rural locations. Lighter rains also fell across Orioni, Argenland and Great Kings down to Byzantine Nova and Paranoid Schizos. To the north things were more quiet. Jaihu and Cheezefish both reported light rains, the result of a persistant onshore flow, that also kept the temperatures mild.
The coming week will likely see drying out and warming up across much of southern Europa, while the central areas will have a chance of rain towards midweek, and the islands are possibly looking at another round of snow and continued below normal temperatures. Wetter and unusually warm conditions in northern Europa are also likely.
